There are heaps of other options for accommodation as the site is close to Gisborne centre. Baywatch Camping festival, the camp ground is the main provider here, see further down. Accommodation in Gisborne is always heavily booked over this summer holiday period, get in early or book a campervan.
Environment: It's a thriving party and one of the best known new years festivals in new Zealand. They allow pitching tents for shade cover and "Power Napping". Rhythm and Vines has been sold out for the last 4 years running. Many crews make a holiday out of it so expect lots people and events around Gisborne at new years. It is the first festival in the world to celebrate the new year. Beautiful people, beautiful weather, all you need for a good new year.
BW Camping Festival: BW camp ground is the main camping ground for R&V festival, it's almost a destination in itself as it hosts it's own pre and post R&V gigs, surfing competitions, Bikini Jam, Cocktail parties and a whole heap of wicked people pushing the summer fun vibe and showing heaps of skin. Space is limited, more info at bwcampgrounds.co.nz
Other Info: R&V is strictly R18 - you will be asked for Photo ID before entry to the festival. Get in early, this will sell out, again. Drinking in the New Zealand sun can really take it out of you so watch out. ;-) Transport from your accommodation to the event can be tricky because you can't drink and drive but busses will be available if you buy a bus pass with your ticket.
