MERCURY Rising 2007 has been called off sorry to say folks. Promoter Manolo Echave has stated "We know this will be a great disappointment to all those who chose to spend their New Years with the great lineup of NZ talent that was scheduled for MR07. It is a far greater disappointment for us to not be able to get the fans and the bands together. Unusual weather conditions have in this instance put an insurmountable barrier before us. "

In its second year Mercury Rising is now able to offer limited camping space and a far bigger area for parking. With accommodation in the area being at a premium at this time of year this facility gives all concert goers the opportunity to remain on site in both a safe and secure environment. The right to camp has been granted on a temporary emergency basis by the Thames Coromandel District Council. The successful operation of the facility will enable development for concert goers in the future. It is important that all concert goers are aware that there is a total fire ban which relates to the site.
The event is an all age's event with R18 restricted areas where concert goers will need to have their proof of age before they can enter.
This year Mercury Rising continues the philosophy of a NZ sounds only festival with the entertainment spread to a second stage situated in the Mojo Bar area. The mainstage flavour is eclectic but founded on the endearing sounds of New Zealand and the Pacific whereas the Mojo stage is decidedly rock. The grouping of some of NZ's finer up and coming names on this stage is testimony to the enormous pool of talent we have to draw from in New Zealand. Both stages wave the flag high and proud for the names we call our own ? Mercury Rising is all about New Zealand artists sharing this great night of celebration with fans and partygoers alike. The traditional kiwi summer at the beach with great kiwi sounds at Mercury Rising.
