Luminate delivers a quality line-up of international and new zealand artists, offering a diversity of soundscapes from around the world to savour and enjoy. Live music, World Grooves, Gypsy, Celtic, Roots, Reggae, Folk, Soul, Funk, Fusion, Dub, Breaks, Psytrance, Minimal Tech, House, Progressive, Glitch, Dubstep, D&B, Ambient, Esoteric beats and more...Find your rhythm at the Live Stage or Electronic Zone, get primal with the drums of the Tribal zone, take it horizontal in the Chillout Lounge, or bring an instrument and join in the fun at the Buskers stage.

Environment: Luminate is an earth-friendly festival of music, dance, art and culture with a focus on environmental sustainability, intentional community, knowledge sharing, creativity and consciousness evolution. Returning for our fifth year in 2012, Luminate is a place to re-energise on the dancefloor, participate in workshops, be inspired about living sustainably, receive a massage, join in drumming around the fire, relax with a warm chai, watch an enlightening movie, be in harmony with nature, have fun, enjoy life, and celebrate a sense of conscious community choosing to make the shift into an enlightened and compassionate paradigm that looks after our amazing planet. Clean Environment event. Luminate is renowned for groundbreaking environmental initiatives in resource conservation and waste minimization. There are no rubbish bins or recycling on site! Be prepared to pack out what you bring in and leave no trace. Bring your own plate and cup for the food stalls. There is a composting area for biodegradables. The festival site layout and art installations have been designed using natural materials, re-used resources and sacred geometry. As usual, alcohol and dogs are not permitted.
Other features include: an extensive program of workshops including permaculture, electronic music production, yoga, dance & movement, african drumming, mayan calender, harakeke, wild crafts; the Flaming-Juggle-Poi-Toy zone with a wide range of circus skills for kids & adults, and spectacular fire performances at night; plus an alternative Healing Hub with a range of holistic therapies; enlightening movies & documentaries; heaps of kids' activities. Chillax, enojy nature, go for a bush walk, find the stream, or try out the various mountain bikes trails in the surrounding DOC land. Markets open and schedule of workshops start Thursday 2nd Feb from 10am, and music zones start after the opening ceremony at sunset.
